Dr. Michelle Herlihy
Dr. Michelle Herlihy graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She completed her animal chiropractic education at Options for Animals in 1998 and maintains active certification through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA). Acupuncture training was at the Chi Institute in Florida while simultaneously working in rehabilitation at TOPS in 1999 and 2000. Dr. Herlihy has over fourteen years experience with traditional and alternative veterinary medicine. In 2008, she focused her energy to create PAWSitively Balanced, Ltd., a veterinary practice devoted to laser therapy, aquatreadmill therapy and chiropractic care for dogs and cats.
Dr. Herlihy resides in Downers Grove with her husband (an incredibly talented engineer who can fix anything, seriously ANYTHING), two young children (often referred to as the "human puppies"), Crash the cat (yes he actually likes being carried upside down), Crooked the Border Collie (he's not so crooked anymore), Tatsu & Suna the bearded dragons (she's in charge, he allows her to be), Fire & Spot the fire belly toads (that have recently been googled and discovered have a life expectancy of 15 years!), Tweety the bird (who only sings when Dr. H is yelling at her kids), Naples the anole lizard (hmmmm.... the name may explain that one), Zebra the king snake (can you guess what color he is?) and Harry the ball phython (because we really needed one more pet, reptiles are an addiction!). She takes a personal approach to her care for your pets, taking the time to get to know and understand each patient as if they were a pet of her own.
Dr. Herlihy’s hobbies include anything that gets her outside in the summer, training and walking her dog year-round, rain or shine, and a slight snowboarding addiction in the winter. She can truly relate to those dogs, and a few cats, that “have no respect for their bodies.” Dr. Herlihy's personal motto is "Work hard, Play harder, but know a good chiropractor."
Although she no longer practices traditional medicine, Dr. Herlihy believes in an integrated approach to veterinary healthcare to provide maximum benefit for the health and healing of each individual. She is delighted to work with your primary care veterinarian or multiple specialists to promote a long and happy life for your pet.
